Winter's Day Walk

posted 8 Jan 2012 12:14 by Simone Coetser

Murlough Nature Reserve is about 30miles, a 54min. drive from Banbridge (Map with directions)
Ireland’s first nature reserve features thousands of acres of ancient sand dunes and harbours a stunning diversity of plant and animal life. It is owned by the National Trust and managed as Ireland’s first Nature Reserve since 1967. It is an excellent area for walking and bird watching due to its spectacular location at the edge of Dundrum Bay and the Mourne Mountains.

We began our walk on Saturday morning at 11:10.

Along the Board is interesting inofrmation about Sand Dunes and its inhabitants.

We decided to take the path down to the Beach.

My daughter could not resist climbing up, she got really scared coming down .......

Horses doing their paces. Jeandre had fun trying to run in their tracks.

Not something you want to see, but you cannot escape the cycle of life.

We no the only ones out on this Winter Day

By now we were tired and hungry so it was time to get back to the board walk.

We had lunch and then got a bit lost. At least we had a great view of the country side.

At last we made it back after about 7km the last bush before the car park had this beautiful Robin sitting in it, as it was saying Good Bye. :)

Home Grown

Last we visited the latest exhibition at the FE William Gallery. Home Grown a showcase of art works from some of the talented artists associated with Banbridge District.
We were privileged to meet Joanne Proctor while she was working on her one of her pieces (a Cell). We had a great discussion. Her other piece of work is a map of Banbridge which includes her "DNA", pieces of her hair worked into the art work.

My daughter is looking forward to meet the other artist:

Chapterhouse Theatre Company
Sense and Sensibility

By Jane Austen, Adapted for the stage by Laura Turner

Join Chapterhouse Theatre Company this summer for an evening of regency wonderment, as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood make their first forays into the excitingly decadent world of eighteenth-century society. This brand new adaptation of Jane Austen’s lively tale follows the sisters as they fall in love, make mistakes and experience heartbreak for the first time in their quest to find a balance between sense and sensibility.

Open Air theatre lends itself perfectly to pre-show picnics creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for everyone. This is the perfect opportunity to sit back and enjoy the show whilst watching a great evening of entertainment.

Picnic in Scarva Park

posted 22 May 2011 13:26 by Simone Coetser

We braved the scattered showers today. A few rode their bicycles from Portadown to Scarva Park along the Tow Path. We enjoyed a picnic that was disturbed by the rain but we preserved. The kids managed to get a soccer game going and then those who still energy rode back to Portadown :)
